Hamburgers with haloumi fries

Hamburgers using David’s Larder delicious house made Angus burgers make a great lunch or dinner idea for any day of the week.

Ingredients

  • ANGUS BURGERS
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • Lettuce or Baby Spinach leaves
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 5 burger buns
  • 2 packets of haloumi cheese, cut into long rectangular shapes to mimic fries
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (or any type of crumb in the pantry)

directions

  • Preheat oven to 180c, prepare a baking tray lined with baking paper
  • Place flour in a small bowl, the eggs in another bowl and the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl
  • Dredge the haloumi chips in the flour, shake off excess, then into the eggs, and finally into the panko breadcrumbs
  • Place the haloumi chips on baking tray and bake until breadcrumbs become golden, about 20-25 minutes. 
  • Cook ANGUS BURGERS on the BBQ or pan fry approx 6 minutes each side, 2 minutes rest
  • Prepare burger buns by lightly toasting
  • Build your burger and serve haloumi fries straight out of the oven so that they are super crispy and the cheese is perfectly soft

Creative Flare

  • Condiments anyone? Tomato sauce, HP, Mayo, Sriracha, BBQ Sauce or Relish?
  • Add some sour, beetroot or pickles are a great addition
